It was a perfect day to be in the mountains, December 29. I had been hiding the engagement ring since February, when I had bought it out from under Melody. She was saving up and thought that she'd missed her chance, that someone else had purchased it. I would smirk to myself when we looked around at jewelry stores for "something like it." I kept it in a box with our outdoor gear. Melody's parents were so supportive when I asked for their blessing to marry her. Then, the day of the engagement, we loaded up our backpacks and avalanche gear, and headed out to the Tony Grove winter trailhead in Logan Canyon for some avalanche beacon practice. I hid the ring with my beacon and Melody tracked it down. I was so nervous! She said 'yes' and we celebrated by snowshoeing up and enjoying the view from a powder-covered hill. I am the luckiest and can't wait to marry my bride!
